Both admins and users can replace a card, causing the old card to be canceled and a new card to be issued in its place. Admins can also replace cards on behalf of users without contacting Brex Support. To replace a card, please follow the steps below.
Note: Only active or suspended cards can be replaced. Terminating a card does not automatically create a replacement.
Step 1: In your dashboard, go to Card > Manage cards.
If you're an admin looking for one of your user's cards, go to the All cards tab and search for the user's name. Select the desired card and click Replace.
Step 2: Click the three dots below the card and select Replace.
Step 3: You'll then be given a summary of merchants that may be using that card for recurring charges so you can update the card on file for those merchants.
Important: Brex will not automatically transfer the recurring charges, so please make sure to update to update your card details wherever they are being used.
Step 4: For physical cards, provide a shipping address.
Step 5: Verify your preferred shipping address (for physical cards) or provide the last four digits of your new card (for virtual cards).
Important: When replacing a virtual card, the new card credentials will immediately replace the existing virtual card on the dashboard. If you click into the virtual card, you should see a brand new card number, expiration date, and CVV.
The affected user will receive an email confirmation regarding the replacement card.
Replacing expiring cards
Every Brex card has a three-year expiration date, but we’ve designed the transition to replacement cards to be smooth and effortless. We’ll automatically issue you a new card 60 days prior to the expiration date and notify you by email.
Other things to know:
For physical cards, we’ll ask you to confirm your shipping address for delivery.
Recurring expenses will be moved over to the new card prior to the old card's expiration.
You’ll have access to your previous card details and transactions through the new card in your Brex dashboard.
