### About Huntress

### Challenges

A burdensome personal guarantee, manual work, and poor spend controls

Huntress was using Amex, which required a personal guarantee and tied every expense to the CEO’s personal credit – adding an undue burden on the CEO and prohibiting Huntress from building business credit. Amex also sent employee cards directly to the CEO, creating inefficient administrative work. Ken Liu, Director of Accounting Operations at Huntress, said, “We couldn’t stay at Amex because everything was tied to our CEO’s personal credit. Simply put, Amex wasn’t startup friendly.” Amex cards also did not provide the multi-currency capabilities Huntress needed as they rapidly expanded to global entities and operations.

Along with their Amex cards, Huntress was using Expensify for expense management, which didn’t make it easy to control and track spend. As a result, a lot of people were putting their expenses on personal cards or shared cards, and the whole review, tracking, and expense reporting process was too manual and error prone.

### Solution

A global corporate card and expense solution with meaningful rewards

Huntress first implemented startup-friendly [Brex corporate cards](https://www.brex.com/product/credit-card) with competitive rewards and global capabilities. Brex cards gave them higher credit limits and rewards with no personal guarantee and enabled them to easily issue cards in over 30 currencies and pay their statements from local bank accounts in over 50 countries. “A huge unlock was issuing Brex cards in the local currency to our foreign employees as we grew. Unlike Amex, Brex was able to keep up,“ said Liu.

At first, Huntress continued using their Expensify software with their Brex cards, but soon chose to level up to [Brex expense management](https://www.brex.com/product/spend-management) to unlock even more real-time tracking and proactive, customizable spend controls. They also took advantage of Brex’s award-winning [NetSuite integration](https://www.brex.com/product/integrations/netsuite) to automate accounting and close the books more accurately.

Included in their card and expense management solution is Brex’s unparalleled [implementation services](https://www.brex.com/professional-services) and ongoing support. “Brex really listens to our needs, and that’s something you can’t get anywhere else. The service from my Customer Success Manager has been unparalleled,” said Liu.

### Impact

Business-building rewards, happy employees, and smarter spend controls

With Brex corporate cards, Huntress’s CEO is no longer burdened by a personal guarantee, and the company is earning rewards that truly move the needle. “One of the main reasons we prefer Brex is the accessibility of Billboard rewards — it’s truly an unbeatable value for customers.”

With [Brex rewards](https://www.brex.com/product/rewards), customers can choose to redeem their points for high-value billboards, and the result is far more impactful than cash back. “It was awesome to walk with our CEO in Times Square and see Huntress up in lights. Because we exercised the rewards program, we actually received this as a bonus, which was even more meaningful,” said Liu.

Another meaningful bonus? Co-branded cards and an easy user experience. Employees are delighted that their Brex cards and Brex interface are co-branded with Huntress. “We got our logo on the Brex cards, and we can't get that anywhere else. These are meaningful elements that move the needle and compound. It’s a good experience for our employees and promotes excitement and connectivity to our brand.”

When it comes to controlling employee spending, Liu finds Brex’s [spend limits](https://www.brex.com/platform/spend-limits) with embedded expense policies especially effective at controlling spend while also streamlining processes so employees aren’t burdened. “We decided to give everyone a Brex card to help streamline. Brex really helps us control our spending, and I love that we can set up our own policy.”

A unique way Huntress is using Brex cards is for employees’ home office stipends. Huntress issues a stipend spend limit, and employees can put the pre-approved spend on their Brex card. “Brex makes the process easy for employees, which encourages them to take advantage of the stipend knowing it isn’t cumbersome for them to use,” said Liu.

In Brex, Huntress has a user-friendly card and spend management solution they’ll never outgrow, from a partner that’s here to help them continue expanding around the world. “Brex’s customer service is above and beyond and just gets it for us. Brex understands that the technology has to move with the company.”
