ID We use photo IDs as part of our Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements for account creation. Social security number To comply with the Know Your Customer (KYC) US regulatory requirements, we may ask for your social security number during the application process.
Shell companies A shell company is a corporation without active business operations or significant assets, where the true business ownership isn’t revealed. Shell companies don’t create products, sell products, or generate revenue. If your company doesn’t have customers/relations with shell companies, please answer No to this question on your application.
To maintain your Brex account as a US business, we need a physical address. You can use a residential address if you're currently operating your business from a residence. For international founders, if you do not have a physical address in the US we also accept virtual offices or registered…
To make Brex available to businesses that operate internationally, we ship physical credit cards to most international addresses. When you request a physical card in your Brex dashboard, you’ll be asked to select your country. There you can enter your international address.
During the application process, we may ask for a PDF of your IRS letter to confirm your EIN. However, if you’ve recently registered with the IRS, there can be a delay before you receive that document by mail.

Brex supports growing businesses worldwide. International founders without a physical address in the United States are welcome to apply, as long as they have the following: US incorporation US EIN US billing address–we allow international founders to use a PO Box or virtual office.
You can check your application status at any time by signing in to the Brex dashboard. Please allow our team 5-7 business days to review your application after it has been submitted. We will be in touch if additional information is required.
If you haven't received the activation email after a few minutes, please check your spam folder. Because this is your first email from Brex, your inbox may be filtering it out. Alternatively, you can resend the activation email by clicking the Resend button.
If you have not yet submitted your application, you may leave your application as is and resume using the same sign-in credentials at a later date instead. Otherwise, please reach out to our support team to have your application withdrawn.
During the application process, Brex requires verification of an applicant's ID. We accept: Passports (and passport cards) US driver's license State ID cards Note: All forms of identification must be currently active and not expired.
During the application process, Brex requires confirmation of a valid business incorporation type and EIN. Incorporating your business requires converting it from a sole proprietorship to a formally recognized and state-registered company.
Thanks for applying for a Brex account! It can take up to 15 business days to review your application. In some cases, your application will be approved, but we’ll still require additional information. You’ll then be assigned follow-up tasks via email or through your dashboard.
Once your account has been fully approved, you can start using it immediately. For Brex Cash, you’ll first need to add funds to your account. There’s no limitation on whether your first inbound transfer is a check, wire, or ACH.
Applying for Brex won’t impact your personal credit score in any way.
There are some industries that aren’t eligible for Brex accounts. Our Prohibited and Restricted Activities page provides examples of those industries. Note: This list is not exhaustive. Please contact us if you’re unsure whether your business or business activities are permitted by Brex.

Brex does not process physical mail–including bank statements, application documents, and physical checks. The best way to send us your bank statements or application documents is by uploading them in your dashboard.
If your company as a whole is incorporated in the US and has an EIN, then your international branches would be eligible for Brex as long as they are legally part of the company and not a separate entity. The subsidiary does not need to have US employees or customers.
