SeatGeek is a leading global marketplace for sports, concerts, and theater tickets. What began as a ticket aggregation website has evolved into a multifaceted global business with seven international offices and over 700 employees. The company markets ticketing software to venues worldwide and serves as a primary ticket partner for numerous NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL teams, as well as the English Premier League and United States Golf Association.

Challenges

Manual expense and accounting workflows, lost time, and limited visibility

SeatGeek's finance and accounting teams were struggling with inefficient spend management workflows. “Our accounting team was drowning in manual work," says Teddy Collins, VP of Corporate Finance. "At one point, expense card close consumed nearly three full working days — reconciling 15 shared department cards, tracking down receipts, and manually coding transactions.”

Additionally, nearly all of SeatGeek’s employee expenses were processed through reimbursements, which meant no upfront spend controls or visibility. Teddy says: “With our legacy system, people booked their own travel for events, meetings, and live ticket experiences, making it harder for teams to stay aligned.” Since expenses were submitted up to 90 days later, the FP&A team had little insight or control over overall spending, and employees had to wait a long time to get paid back.
