Why did a transaction clear for a higher amount than what was pending?

A pending charge is a transaction approved by Brex but has yet to be accepted by the merchant or the merchants' payment processor. Occasionally it takes time for the transaction to clear—typically 2 days but sometimes up to 30 days. The merchant will charge a higher amount if it was authorized. For example, if you leave a tip at a restaurant, the cleared amount will be different than the pending charge of the meal.

If you don’t recognize this charge or you didn’t authorize the final amount, please read How can I submit a merchant dispute?.
