Fueled by its online success, EZ Bombs scaled quickly. The company expanded from a four-person family operation to 10 employees in one month, and EZ Bombs now employs 25 people around the world. Mike Jalonen, Chief Operating Officer at EZ Bombs, sought a financial platform that could scale with their hypergrowth trajectory.

As a serial entrepreneur who has used Brex for various businesses since its launch in 2017, Mike knew its incumbent card and banking solutions weren’t the right fit. “We were initially using Chase and Mercury," Mike explains. "And functionally, they don't compare at all to using Brex."

EZ Bombs sought integrated banking, card, and bill pay solutions that could keep pace with its explosive growth, support retail expansion into stores like Costco and Walmart, and empower a global team.

When EZ Bombs was looking for a scalable finance platform, one thing was clear: “I didn't want to work with a traditional bank," Mike says. “It felt like traditional banks couldn't keep up with our needs and growth.”

EZ Bombs chose Brex's business account and corporate cards, leveraging a mix of physical and virtual cards with global functionality. Most employees use Brex cards and upload receipts, helping the company scale its global business much faster. The company is also testing out bill pay as it expands its retail presence.

Mike knew Brex was the right choice based on his first experience with Brex years ago. “At the time, Brex was the only platform that allowed you to spin up virtual credit cards,” he said. “It helped us manage subscriptions because you could just cancel the card and avoid overcharges. $80K in yield, meaningful rewards, and AI-powered bill pay

Using Brex corporate cards and business banking enabled the EZ Bombs team to move money back and forth among Brex’s checking, treasury, and vault accounts and extend its runway. “We earned $80,000 last year on yield alone using Brex's treasury account,” Mike says. “That's just not going to happen at Chase.” Brex’s rewards program has also delivered tangible value. "We cashed in a million points for airline miles, and there's so much opportunity with the other partner discounts and perks that Brex offers,” Mike says.

Many team members are international, and Mike says it’s refreshing that they can use Brex cards without interruption. Mike recently traveled to Europe and noted that the Brex card “worked seamlessly across Italy, France, and Spain.”

Josh Roy, Operations Associate at EZ Bombs, works remotely from Pakistan and appreciates Brex’s global nature and ease of use. Josh found Brex’s automated bill pay intuitive despite being unfamiliar with US payment processes. "I mostly work with making ACH payments and setting up bills, but I didn't know about ACH until I started working here,” he says. “It was easy for me to learn and do my job because Brex is so well built. It’s been really smooth.”

Josh was particularly moved by Brex’s automated invoice processing: “I'm genuinely impressed that I can simply upload an invoice and have AI automatically analyze and populate all the relevant fields like invoice number, email, and bank details. Mike noted Brex’s exceptional support: "We really haven't had any issues, but when we do, Brex always responds immediately,” he says. When Mike had an issue with a recent flight, he found Brex's chargeback process refreshingly straightforward: "It was actually really easy — like every part of Brex we've ever used.”

As EZ Bombs expands into retail, they've begun using Brex's invoicing and multi-entity management to streamline payment and accounting processes. Mike says that’s a testament to Brex's intuitive interface and ability to simplify workflows across multiple sales channels.
