The Brex Benchmark is a monthly snapshot of the top software and AI vendors by dollar spend using Brex. With 30,000+ customers spending billions of dollars, you get an inside look at the top tools driving modern business. We updated our methodology this month to include Brex card and bill pay transactions to capture a more comprehensive spending picture. "Startups" are companies with under 250 employees, and "enterprises" are those with 250+ employees.

The vibe coding revolution just got a cash infusion, and Brex data shows Replit and Vercel riding the wave.

Cursor remains the top AI coding tool among Brex customers, but things are getting interesting with vibe coding platforms Replit and Vercel. Both are fresh off a huge raise — Replit pulled in $250M in September, while Vercel just closed $300M — and each promises a faster way to build and ship software.

Replit’s premise is simple: describe the software you want to create, and its AI will spin up the full stack — front end, back end, database, auth, deployment, and hosting. With Agent 3, Replit says its AI can test and fix its own code, build custom agents, and automate workflows. Brex customers are clearly impressed — startup spend jumped 85% in the last four months, while enterprise spend nearly doubled (+95%). The number of customers using Replit also increased over the same period, by 30% in enterprises and 20% in startups.

Vercel, best known for its Next.js framework, offers an open-source vibe coding platform called v0 and an AI SDK that provides access to 60+ LLMs. The company says the AI SDK has 3M+ downloads per week and more than 3.5M users of v0. Vercel is catching more momentum in the enterprise, with spend up 10% MoM and 15% over the past four months. We also saw a 10% uptick in the number of startup customers paying for Vercel in that same period.

Companies are locking in their AI tools.

It looks like companies are finding their groove on AI and locking in their preferred tools. There were no new additions to the enterprise top 10, and the top-5 tools among startups and enterprises remain unchanged from the previous month.

Anthropic, OpenAI, and Cursor continue to dominate startup AI spend, together capturing the lion’s share of total AI spend among smaller companies. Enterprise spending on Anthropic rose 25% MoM, while Cursor spending increased 10% among startups. Perhaps more significant is how fast Anthropic is growing in both segments. Since January, Anthropic has grown 27x faster than OpenAI in terms of startup spend. In the enterprise, Anthropic is growing 14x faster than OpenAI over the same period.

The other takeaway: a sharp jump in spending on two voice AI tools. AssemblyAI jumped a spot in the startup top-10 as spend increased 55% MoM. ElevenLabs held its No. 4 spot among startups, while MoM spending jumped 75%.

It’s always a good time to focus on uptime.

In the enterprise segment, PagerDuty shot into the top 5 with a sharp MoM spend increase of 75%. PagerDuty is basically the always-on alert system: when a server crashes, a payment flow fails, or an app slows to a crawl, it flags the right engineer immediately. We saw a similar focus on uptime among startups in last month’s Brex Benchmark with Datadog, the observability platform that spots issues before they escalate.

Enterprises also increased spending on core design and marketing tools. Adobe spending was up 30% MoM, while HubSpot jumped two spots as spend shot up 70% MoM.
