What is Sunpass?

SunPass is operated by Florida's Turnpike Enterprise, a division of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and has served approximately 1.2 million active customers monthly since its launch in 1999. Drivers mount a transponder on their windshield and funds are automatically deducted from a prepaid account as they pass through toll points — saving an average of 25% compared to non-transponder payment methods. The standard SunPass transponder works across six states, while the premium SunPass PRO is also accepted wherever E-ZPass is used throughout the Midwest and Northeast. There are no recurring subscription or maintenance fees; customers simply pay for the transponder once and then pay only for actual tolls used.
