Why did my payment to Brex fail?
Payments can fail for a variety of reasons. Please read over some of the most common ones below to find a solution and try again!
Not authorized
This occurs when Brex is restricted by a bank account.
Solution: Reach out to your financial institution and have them allow Brex to pull funds accordingly. Refer to How do I authorize Brex for bank payments?.
Insufficient funds
This occurs when the payment amount is greater than the aggregate cash balance in the bank account that payment is being pulled from.
Solution: Ensure that the funds in the connected autopay bank account is equivalent to or greater than the payment amount. To change your primary funding source, please read How do I manage the autopay account for Brex card payments?.
Account not found
This occurs when a routing number matches the bank but the account number is incorrect for the financial institution.
Solution: Troubleshoot your primary funding source autopay account via Bank connections under Settings in your Brex dashboard. Refer to How do I manage the autopay account for Brex card payments?.
Account closed
The bank account was closed and no account in that financial institution can be utilized anymore.
Solution: Troubleshoot your primary funding source autopay account via Connected accounts under Settings in your Brex dashboard. Refer to How do I manage the autopay account for Brex card payments?.
Unknown error
This occurs when Brex receives payment failure messages with unknown reasons.
Solution: Reach out to Brex Support–further assistance is required.
Once you identify the reason for the failed payment and try the suggested solution, you'll need to reinitiate the payment. Your credit limit will be updated once the payment has cleared successfully.
