This topic has 2 versions: Brex classic experience and Brex Empower. If you need help finding which you use, sign in or read this article.

Check deposits are quick and easy via the Brex mobile app. If you don't already have it, please read How can I install the Brex mobile app?.

Once installed, follow the steps below to make your mobile deposit. Processing times for check deposits vary depending on the size of the deposit, though typically clear within 5-7 business days. We accept cashier’s checks, personal checks, and e-checks in US dollars.

Note: We can’t process money orders or accept physical checks sent to us by mail.

Step 1: Sign in to the Brex app and tap the $ icon at the bottom of the home screen.

Step 2: On the Cash page, tap Deposit near the top of the screen. Then tap Deposit a check at the bottom.

Step 3: Select a Brex business account to deposit your check into and tap Continue.

Step 4: Take a photo of the front and back of the endorsed check. The check will need to be horizontally aligned.

Note: When taking a photo of the back of the check, make sure to click the box that says Check here if mobile or remote deposit box, if applicable.

The app will provide live feedback on image quality and automatically take the photo when it meets the appropriate parameters. You’ll have the option to retake the photo and be notified if the check has previously been submitted.

Here are some tips for ensuring that your check is accepted:

  • Endorse the back of the check with your wet signature, not a stamped endorsement.

  • Use ballpoint pens for a clean line, in blue or black ink.

  • Don’t use pencils, felt tip pens, or Sharpies.

  • Don’t use a single dot or line–use as close to your actual signature as possible.

  • Ensure that all fields of the check are legible and accurate.

  • Take the photo on a solid black background.

Step 5: Confirm check details to begin processing the deposit. Funds typically become available within 5-7 business days. You can view the status of your deposit from your Brex dashboard under Cash > Transactions.

Note: After 20 seconds of an unsuccessful attempt to automatically take a picture, you'll see an option for manual image capture.
