XIR (X in Residence) at Brex
This is a new role at Brex, where you can leverage your existing startup network and skill set.  This position sits within the Channel Sales team, which is one of the driving factors behind revenue for Brex. Every member of our team directly impacts Brex’s bottom line. At a high-level, the Channel Sales team engages directly with external community partners that refer potential clients to Brex. Our team then works directly with those referrals to help them get set up for success. We have a unified culture that recognizes team wins and celebrates individual accomplishments.

Type of ideal candidates
The X in XIR is deliberate, as we are looking for candidates that fit one of these various descriptions.  Aspiring Investors, those who are looking to pursue a career in venture capital post Brex.  Aspiring Founders, those who are looking to start a company post Brex.  Founders who have exited their startup and are looking to stay involved in the startup community.   Those that are Community Managers.  Those that are Developer Evangelists.  In Residence roles tend to be short term in nature, this is an 18 month role, with an option of staying at Brex or pursuing other endeavors as described above.

Responsibilities

  • Build startup community in your respective geography 
  • Host events, in person and online
  • Create content, depending on your expertise, areas of interest and preferred medium
  • Network with key external stakeholders
  • Connect people (Founders to Investors, Investors to Investors, Founders to Founders, Candidates to Founders)
  • Drive business opportunities to Brex, referrals to various internal teams
  • Source investment opportunities to the investor community and Brex
  • Help find your replacement if you decide to leave Brex after 18-24 months

Requirements

  • VC, operating and/or community building experience
  • Established startup network in key geographies
  • Currently live in one of these cities:  San Francisco, Los Angeles, Austin, Miami, New York City, Atlanta
  • Self starter with proven evidence of building
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Enjoy spending time with people, both in person and online
  • Intellectually curious 
  • Ability to collaborate with various internal teams remotely
  • Have organized events
  • Bonus: Have built digital communities (Discord / Whatsapp / Telegram)

Outcomes

  • Own your respective geo
  • Build the brand of Brex in your region
  • Increase Brex market share of VC backed companies in your region
  • Close on one opportunity per week
  • Become one of the most well known people in your community
  • Host at least two events per month
