Operations at Brex

The Operations team is the bridge between our product and our customers. Our priority is to keep our customers happy and their businesses protected, while delivering vital information back to our internal teams. We are responsible for underwriting all of our customers, while simultaneously managing Brex’s risk exposures. We work cross-functionally with Risk, Compliance, Data, and Engineering to allow Brex to scale efficiently, keeping quality top of mind.

What you’ll do

This role will serve as the primary point for key stakeholders across Brex and our external partners. We see this role as a blend of Program Management with Operations Management. You will collaborate with leaders of each operational function to drive KPI delivery, look for opportunities to enhance performance, efficiency and increase scope across a growing network of BPO partners supporting Brex and our customers. We began this hybrid approach in 2021. Our external network currently consists of two partners across three countries, operating 24x7 supporting four functions. As Brex scales we anticipate this team to grow in size and complexity and we are looking for someone to lead these effort to ensure we are maximizing our returns of time, effort, and cost.

Responsibilities

  • Performance Management
    • Works closely with all key stakeholders to ensure our partners are set up for success
    • Drives performance and accountability with partner leadership team
    • Coordinates regular cadence of business reviews and performance analyses on all assigned KPIs
    • Proactively identify risks due to performance and business continuity, develop and execute mitigation plans as necessary
    • Ensure adherence to internal governance and best practices for documentation and controls, supporting multiple functions
    • Works to weave Brex’s culture and values into partner operations 
    • Travels to partner sites for inspections and reviews
  • Point of Contact for all key internal stakeholders

    • Renewals
    • Changes in scope
    • Contract Compliance
    • Build and maintain relationships with current and potential partners
    • Initial POC for MSA/SOW Management
    • First level reviewer and approver for monthly invoices
    • Help develop the long-term strategic direction of the partner network
    • Own the RFI/RFP processes used to manage current and future engagements

Requirements

  • 3+ years of leading high-performing operations teams
  • 3+ years of experience leading multi-site, multi-skilled operations teams
  • 1+ year of experience coordinating with external/outsourced partners
  • Proven ability to develop, enhance, and iterate processes to increase performance
  • Proven ability to coordinate with and influence multiple cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proven ability to drive simultaneous cross-functional initiatives to a successful outcome
  • Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts 
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally

Bonus points

  • Experience managing performance of multi-site, multi-function BPO partners
  • Experience managing performance for global operations teams
  • Experience in banking, financial services or FinTech Operations teams
  • Ownership of partnerships and/or partner ecosystems
