Compliance Team at Brex 
The Compliance team helps the company grow responsibility, advocating for Brex and for the thousands of growing businesses we serve. We own the compliance policies for Brex, provide strategic advice and guidance to all Brex teams, protect Brex from Financial Crime and other compliance risks, and represent the company externally on key regulatory and policy issues.  Reimagining the financial system in a highly regulated environment requires creativity and resourcefulness, and we welcome the challenge.

What you’ll do
The Compliance Team is looking for a Compliance Associate to help build our Monitoring & Testing Team from the ground up. Monitoring & Testing is the ongoing evaluation of compliance, conduct, and operational risk exposure as well as control effectiveness. The Monitoring & Testing team provides independent monitoring & oversight of Brex’s process & controls. The team works closely with the First Line of Defense to evaluate control performance and help design appropriate controls where there are control gaps. This person will be one of the founding members of the team that work autonomously on M&T activities and also assist the management team in the production of monthly and quarterly reporting demands (i.e. presentational decks for forums, committees and partners)

Responsibilities 

  • Research, plan and lead detailed reviews in accordance with the M&T program and within assigned timeframes
  • Prepare clear and organized test papers to document work performed and support conclusions reached
  • Document information related to testing reviews conducted, issues identified, outstanding action plans and progress against those plans
  • Ability to acquire & analyze data from multiple sources and systems
  • Organize data and analyze data to reach and support conclusions
  • Ability to produce clear reporting / presentation decks for internal stakeholders
  • Communicate with relevant business, product, compliance and technology teams while conducting detailed evaluations of:
    • Internal controls
    • Policies
    • Procedures
    • Processes
  • Identify potential or actual weaknesses in controls, processes and procedures
  • Ensure testing consistency and promote adherence to testing standards
  • Write test reports that effectively communicate testing objectives, processes, methodologies and results to management and other relevant functions
  • Participate in special projects to enhance M&T processes and practices
  • Conducts follow-up reviews of corrective actions taken to address the findings reported
  • Assists in formulating and coordinates implementation of M&T strategies, 

Requirements 

 

  • 3+ years of experience of monitoring & testing at a payments, fintech or financial institution
  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Understanding of control frameworks and risk assessment analysis
  • Robust analytical and problem solving skills
  • Flexible to changing business priorities and ability to multitask in a constantly changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • ability to produce clear and concise reporting in terms of status of tests and upcoming M&T activities
  • Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide information in concise verbal and written formats is essential for job success
  • Effective time management and ability to work independently in a team environment
  • Must be a self starter, flexible and innovative

Bonus points

  • Experience with data analytics software preferred
  • Professional certifications such as Anti Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS), Certified information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Financial Systems Auditor (CFSA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) are a plus.
