Engineering at Brex

The Engineering team includes Data, IT, Security, and Software, and is responsible for building innovative products and infrastructure for Brex and our customers. We believe that engineers should accelerate the business through technology, and collaborate across multiple teams to accomplish that.

What you’ll do

As a Technical Project Manager focusing on Incident Management at Brex, you will work to manage and guide our incident response program. Incidents at Brex can have a direct financial impact on our customers, and handling them in a responsible, expedient manner is a core requirement for us to scale.

You’ll be working with engineering teams across the board, to not only improve how we’re responding to incidents, but also ensure we’re learning, and growing from the experiences. You’ll be in charge of understanding common trends, aggregating data, and presenting reports to leadership and the company at large, to truly impact change end to end.

Responsibilities

  • Work with teams in and out of the engineering org to expand, grow, and evolve our incident response program. You will drive a culture of reliability and accountability.

  • Work directly with engineers on requirements for in-house tooling.

  • Define processes around internal and external communications to ensure the right information is delivered to stakeholders.

  • Own the IR training of new engineers joining Brex so they can be prepared for their on-call rotations.

  • Empower teams to respond, lead, and then reflect on incidents through regular postmortems.

  • Manage our post-mortem process to ensure high quality and timely action items are being implemented.

  • Analyze our incident data in Looker to understand patterns, trends, and advocate for increased focus in certain areas.

  • Regularly communicate to leadership and the broader organization.

Requirements

  • Experience working on incident response programs or processes for a software development organization.

  • A strong understanding of modern incident response best practices.

  • A passion for maintaining a culture of resiliency, and being able to espouse that throughout the organization.

  • Familiarity with analytics tools like Snowflake and Looker.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
